Exercise

The fact that genes play a major role in the amount of muscle that your dog can develop, does not mean that they cannot become quit muscular and strong. Exercise is always going to be essential for their muscles to grow. You need to train your dogs with high intensity but they also need to be dragging heavy weight for their muscular development to be optimal.

The amount of muscular volume in dogs will be greatly affected by the weight that they need to pull with their bodies. If you want the dog to strengthen the neck muscles even more, you need to put a weighted vest on the animal. Just make sure that you only add a small amount of extra weight to avoid damaging the neck muscles.

You can increase this when the dog is able to hold on to the spring pole for long. Always remember that you should not overtraining your dog. It’s always a good idea to let the animal rest for 24 to 48 hours after a grueling workout.


Nutrition

Some people seem to think that muscles grow from the lifting, but the muscles are actually damaged by the exercise and they repair thanks to proper nutrition. When the amount of exercise is heavy, the body will react by rebuilding the muscle with more volume, but in order to be able to add that volume, your dog needs to get a lot of protein on its diet.

If your dog is only getting enough nutrients to recover from the exercise, there will not be anything left to promote muscle growth and your dog will get more definition. But the size of the muscles will remain the same. Make sure that the dog can get plenty of protein and vitamins. There should always be plenty of water available too.
